Experience

I'm currently working toward a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Denver, with a Mechanical Engineering minor. My approach to tutoring is driven by the belief that every teacher should work toward showing students what's really interesting, exciting, or powerful about the subject. I work toward this with each and every student I tutor, encouraging them to look at problems from different, more interesting angles and explaining the applications of each subject. When you're able to change the way a student thinks about a problem, you often trigger a new interest in the material. I've worked with students from elementary school through college freshmen, primarily in mathematics. I began by working with underprivileged children, teaching math in an after school program in San Diego, and then went on to work with the tutoring program in college, assisting college freshmen with beginning Calculus. Even outside of work and school, I'm a math geek: I like to watch nerdy physics and math videos. I'm also a bit of a gamer, and play fantasy football with my roommates.
